Homegrown

I was recently reading an article in Macleans –Eating Tomorrow’s Food – suggesting that within the next ten years our food will start coming from labs instead of farms. The development of test tube meats, genetically modified fruits and vegetables and fake meats is on the uprise and new research is going in to creating aptly named Frankenfood.
It pushes you more to want to create a garden in any space. Living in a small basement apartment doesn’t give a lot of options, but it’s a good place to start.
We have a couple of herb plants I have managed to keep alive, and I’m on the hunt for some more. I’d love to grow nasturtiums next – so good in salads!

Next step is making a small raised bed to grow tomatoes and little cucumbers!
